Return to Work...

I was supposed to return to work on March 13 according to my short term insurance company... however... my OB said that I shouldn't return to work until after I had my 6 week visit, which was the 13th. After multiple calls to the insurance company and threatening to contact a lawyer about the situation, the insurance company wisened up and decided that they shouldn't count the day that I sat in the hospital IN LABOR as a recovery day AFTER having Rylie...

When I did return to work on that Friday, it was hard being back since I knew that Rylie wasn't feeling 100%. It did help that she was home with her daddy and not someone else! The day went by so quickly as I tried to figure out what had been going on with my students while I was out on leave. I had 6 weeks of notes and documentation to sift through, oh and a kazillion referrals and new students to test!!!

March Happenings

March was a very busy month!!! We had Nana and Grandpa Rick visiting the beginning of the month, mommy went back to work the middle of the month and Aunt Kelly, Uncle Jack and cousin Henry visited shortly there after!

My first trip to the zoo was on March 6. We had a lot of fun. Mommy had her first experience feeding me in public, right in front of the monkeys! Then we had a Girls Shopping Day with Auntie Mary and cousin Addy at Colorado Mills. Addy and I slept through the shopping trip for the most part!

March 12 found mommy and daddy taking me to the doctor. I had an upper respiratory infection and a rash. I was almost 6 weeks old (a day shy) and I weighed 9 pounds 9 ounces! Mommy had to leave me, much to her dismay since I was sick, on the 14th. But she had a long weekend with me and the family!!!

On Saturday the 15th my Aunt Kelly, Uncle Jack and cousin Henry arrived from Tulsa!!! We went to Ethan's birthday party (which I was a good girl!) to see everyone! While Aunt Kelly and Uncle Jack were here we also went to the Butterfly Pavilion!

I really enjoyed having my aunt, uncle and cousin here for a visit!!! They are a lot of fun! After the left, I had the rest of the week with daddy before mommy had her Spring Break!!! 

I started smiling at mommy and daddy just before Spring Break (right about 8 weeks old). Mommy enjoyed her Spring Break with me! We hiked up Dinosaur Ridge with Aunt Mary and Cousin Addy, went to the zoo with mommy's friend Sara, had dinner with Jonathan and had my 6 week doctor's visit!

At my 6 week doctor's visit I was 10 pounds 2 ounces and 21.25" long!!!!

March 6, 2014 was the first time that Rylie ventured out to the Denver Zoo!!! The weather was beautiful until the sun started to go down and the wind picked up... then it got to be a little chilly!

One month musings...

Rylie enjoys her baths as long as she has a warm wash cloth on her chest... and she likes to have music playing while she is in the tub. She just likes music in general! "Yesterday" by the Beatles is soothing to her along with "Amazing Grace."

While Rick and Sherry were here visiting we ventured out to the Denver Art Museum to see the Impressionist exhibit. Rylie wore her "Batman" sleeper and insisted on having a super hero blanket with her too. (You know super heroes need their friends...) She did a great job at the museum, slept a majority of the time.

I took Rylie to the Breastfeeding Support Group with Mary and Addy on March 3. Lil' miss weighed in at 9 pounds and 1 ounce. She was just shy of 5 weeks old! Wahoo she passed her birth weight finally!
